Cops: Dog Disfigured in Austell - South Cobb Patch

An Austell man is accused of repeatedly striking a dog in the face and head with a broken metal broom handle.

The incident occurred around 6:15 a.m. Friday in the 1800 block of Sylvia Street.

According to a Cobb County criminal warrant, Kenny Sullivan allegedly beat the dog to the point that it had a deep laceration above its left eye and a bloody, swollen left eyeball that required emergency medical treatment.

Lawrenceville Man Identified as Pedestrian Killed on Pleasant Hill in Lilburn - Lawrenceville Patch

Lilburn Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car off Pleasant Hill Road Sunday (April 7).

According to a Lilburn Police news release, the deceased man was a Lawrenceville resident. Authorities were able to positively identify the man with the help of immediate family this morning, but police are withholding his name pending notification of other family members.

"The Lilburn Police Department would like to thank the community’s response to this incident," continues the statement.

3 Fort Stewart Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan - Fort Stewart Patch

Three 3rd Infantry Division soldiers were killed in Afghanistan Saturday, according to a Fort Stewart press release.

The soldiers died in Kandahar from wounds suffered when their unit was attacked by enemy forces using a vehicle-borne explosive device, according to the release.

Killed were Staff Sgt. Christopher M. Ward, Spc. Wilbel A. Robles-Santa and Spc. Deflin M. Santos Jr. All were cavalry scouts assigned to the 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team.

Sandy Springs Man Killed in Marietta Bar Shooting -- Sandy Springs Patch

A Sandy Springs resident was found shot on Sunday in the parking lot of Milo's Bar on Garrison Road in Marietta.

The Marietta Police Department is investigating his murder.

At around 3 a.m. on Sunday, April 7, Marietta Police responded to a "person shot" call at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered 34-year-old Sandy Springs resident Takilam Terrell in a parking lot, Marietta Detective Christopher Lindsey said in a press release.

A Marietta man allegedly raped a Kennesaw woman while she was unconscious last Thursday, then called 911 to report the incident to police, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.

Jesus Funez of Marietta is in custody without bond on a charge of rape. He has an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold on his release, according to online jail records.

The incident occurred between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 4 in a TownPark Crossing apartment unit, records show.

 


'Shark Tank' Auditions Set for Atlanta - Lilburn-Mountain Park Patch

Atlanta is one of five stops nationwide for auditions to appear on the popular ABC show "Shark Tank," where self-made tycoons help budding entrepreneurs reach their dreams.

The Atlanta auditions take place Sunday, April 14, at the Fox Theatre, located at 660 Peachtree Street, NE.

The first 500 entrepreneurs to arrive will receive a numbered wristband and are guaranteed to be seen by the casting team, according to the show's parent company ABC.

Wristbands will be distributed 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., and interviews begin at 12 p.m.
