Here are some of the most-read stories on Oconee Patch this past week.

Motorists on Highway 316 saw thick, black smoke near Mars Hill Road on Tuesday evening.  The smoke was caused by an abandoned house that caught fire and burned down.  By the time firefighters responded to the scene, the roof of the building had collapsed.

Opinion columnist Dan Matthews writes that sports marketing firm Collegiate Licensing Company has insisted that several Georgia high schools change team logos that are similar to that of the Seminoles. 

"Colleges should be honored that the logos are being borrowed by high schools," he says.

A very lucky Buttercup was reunited with Harry and Nancy Thompson on St. Patrick's Day.

Severe storms last weekend caused minor flooding in parts of Watkinsville, but one house on New High Shoals Road suffered the most weather-related damage.  Authorities believe lightning sparked a fire that destroyed the garage and much of the second floor in the early morning hours of March 27.
