A Morgan County Middle School teacher from Watkinsville turned herself into authorities this week after a joint investigation of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Madison Police Department, and the Morgan County Sheriff's Office yielded warrants for her arrest. The alleged victim's legal guardian also faces charges.

Oconee Patch followed a developing story Friday evening as Oconee County and Barrow County deputies, Georgia State Patrol, and Statham Police hunted a burglary suspect for over 7 hours before he surrendered to authorities.  See also

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office said investigators suspected that a debit card processor, which served many area restaurants, had been hacked.  An unusually high number of citizens had filed reports of unauthorized transactions.  Local banks are assisting customers in order to limit the inconveniences consumers have experienced as a result of debit card numbers having been compromised.

Authorities are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a shoplifting suspect from a March 9 incident at Walmart.  The man led deputies on a foot chase before inclement weather forced authorities to break pursuit.  The Oconee County Sheriff's Office released a photo of the suspect this week.
