Heavy rainfall is in the forecast for Labor Day.

Weather: It'll be a rainy Labor Day, according to the National Weather Service.  A remains in effect through Tuesday morning. Up to one inch of new rainfall is possible with the high temperature around 80 degrees.

Top Thing to Know About:

  • Ever wonder about the history of Labor Day?  The U.S. Department of Labor has compiled a list of historical facts about the holiday celebrated annually on the first Monday of September.
  • Schools and universities are closed in observance of Labor Day.  All Oconee County offices and facilities are also closed today.
  • Ashford Manor's featuring Half Dozen Brass Band and Eddie & The Public Speakers originally scheduled for today has been postponed until Sunday, Oct. 9, due to inclement weather.  For more information, visit .
