The Oconee County School District Teacher of the Year will be named at a banquet tonight. See what else there is to know about in and around Oconee.

Weather: Warm weather continues.  The National Weather Service predicts highs in the mid 80s with sunny skies.  Overnight lows will be in the low 60s.

Top Things to Know About:

  • celebrates Homecoming with a parade through downtown Watkinsville at 7 p.m. Groups will line-up on Barnett Shoals Road and travel through downtown on Main Street, according to Police Chief Lee O'Dillon. The route turns onto Third Street and ends at the Board Of Education offices near Rocket Field. All routes along the parade route will close shortly before 7 p.m., O'Dillon noted.
  • There are a number of middle school and JV football games on the for today.  Check the schedule for more details.
  • The will be named an a banquet honoring this year's nominees at the tonight. Best of luck to all the nominees!
  • Catch a screening of the French film Amelie at the UGA Tate Center Theatre at 8 p.m. Tickets are $2 or $1 for current UGA students.
