A free expo for seniors is on deck at the Oconee County Civic Center this afternoon.

Weather: Afternoon rain showers are possible with highs in the upper 70s. The Weather Channel predicts a greater chance of showers in the evening and overnight with lows in the upper 50s.

Top things to know about:

  • Learn about medical botany at a Medicinal Plant Symposium at the State Botanical Garden from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call the Garden for ticket information. In conjunction with the symposium, herbs, perennials and other plants with healing properties will be for sale at a Medicinal Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Speaking of gardening, the is offering a Garden Sculpture Class at 4 p.m.  The price is $40 for members, $50 for non-members. .
  • A free for seniors takes place from 3-7 p.m. at the , sponsored by the Athens Senior Resources Network. There will be information about aging in place technology, assisted living facilities, elder/referral placement, health care products and other topics.
