The theme of National Fire Prevention Week 2011: Protect Your Family From Fire

Weather: Between a quarter and half of an inch of new rainfall is expected today.  Plan for highs in the mid 60s and northeast wind around 10 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Top Things to Know About:

  • Oct. 9- 15 is National Fire Prevention Week and the National Fire Protection Association has safety advice for you and your family. Plus, now through October 28, visitors to Sparky’s Facebook page can vote for their favorite PSA made by college students across the U.S. and Canada. Locally, students will see a Fire House presentation this morning. 
  • A blood drive, sponsored by the Air Force ROTC and Army ROT, takes place at the UGA Tate Student Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The Fall Concert is the first performance of the year for the Oconee County Middle School.  The Beginning Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Band will all perform at the Oconee Civic Center.  The concert begins at 7 p.m.
  • The Oconee County Board of Commissioners at its October regular meeting tonight at 7 p.m. on the second floor of the courthouse. The complete draft the meeting's agenda is attached as a PDF.
