Oconee Today -- Nov. 30

Welcome to Wednesday...we've made it to the middle of the week without snow.

Weather: Well, no snow fell as predicted, but Tuesday's temperatures were frigid.  It'll warm up slightly today and highs will reach into the mid 50s, according to the National Weather Service.  High winds, however, may make it feel chillier.  Gusts of up to 25mph are possible.

Top things to know:

  • Bedtime stories will be featured during the Preschool Storytime at at 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers and their caregivers can dress the part by wearing pajamas or slippers.
  • Teens are invited to learn how to make gingerbread houses and ornaments at the beginning at 6 p.m.  The free event is for kids ages 13-18 only.
  • The Oconee Mentor Program has expanded and is in need of volunteers. Mentors, both male and female, support and motivate students at all grade levels in all Oconee schools.   .
  • On the sports calendar, North Oconee High School varsity and JV wrestlers travel to Elbert Co. for matches.  UGA women's basketball hosts SEC rival South Carolina at 7 p.m.
