Overnight lows are expected to drop into the upper 20s.

Weather: Plenty of sunshine is in the forecast for Friday.  Plan on cool temperatures with highs only in the low 50s. Clear skies are expected overnight and lows will dip into the upper 20s.

Top things to know:

  • A unique cultural event for kids will take place this afternoon at Athens-Clarke County Library on Baxter Street in Athens. University of Georgia's Outreach Coordinator for Asian Studies and members of the Japan Club will teach Japanese culture through a Japanese Storytime.  The program is free and open to all families starting at 5 p.m.
  • The NOHS Titans host Appling County in the second round of high school football state playoffs beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8. The game is going to be broadcast on WMOQ 92.3 FM, according to the NOHS Football Huddle Club. Prince Avenue Christian hopes for another win as the Wolverines take on Charlton County in round Class A playoff action.
  • The North Georgia Jaycees host a , benefitting .  It will be held at the Melting Point in Athens. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., with Mullins taking the stage from 9 to 10:30 p.m. Visitmeltingpointathens.com to buy tickets, which are $20 plus a $2 convenience fee.
