Oconee Today -- July 8

NASA's final space Shuttle mission, license plates, and a benefit concert are a few of the things to know about today.

1. Summertime afternoon thunderstorms are possible today.  The high temperature will be 90 degrees with overnight lows in the low 70s, according to the Weather Channel.

2. If the weather cooperates, NASA's final space Shuttle mission will launch this morning at 11:26 a.m. Watch live footage at Nasa.gov.

3. Representatives of the University of Georgia will present a nutrition program at the Oconee County Senior Center at 10:30 a.m. Seniors can stick around for bingo afterward.

4. It's the last day to cast your vote for your favorite new Georgia license plate design.  There are to choose from.  The top 3 will be sent to Gov. Nathan Deal who will announce the winning design on July 15.

5. Stop Traffick Tees --a non-profit organization that uses t-shirts to raise awareness and funds to stop human trafficking-- is holding a benefit concert at the Church of the Nations from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.  Cash only please.
