Happy 235th birthday, America!

1. Partly sunny skies are in the forecast for Independence Day with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s.  There's a 50 percent chance of afternoon thunderstorms starting around 3 p.m., according to the Weather Channel.

2. Interested in learning more about the history of the birth of our nation?  History.com has an entire page devoted to the topic. 

3.Celebrate the Fourth of July in downtown Watkinsville from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Oconee County's annual ." There will be live musical entertainment, a variety of foods, and family-friendly activites at Eagle Tavern. A number of vendors will be selling locally-produced goods starting at 8 a.m.

4. The final day of competition in the Great American Dawg Jump at Oconee Veterans Park begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 3:30 p.m. Find out who will be named top dog.  Check out from Saturday's events.

5. Stone Mountain Park is hosting its 44th annual "" today. Attractions open at 10 a.m. with a laser show and fireworks display set to start at 9:30 p.m.
