Oconee Today -- July 12

Check out what is happening in and around Oconee today.

1. High temperatures will climb into the upper 90s today, according to Weather Underground. There's a 20 percent chance Oconee will see isolated thunderstorms today.

2. Come see what the is all about.  A monthly meeting is held at 8:30 a.m. at the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Office in Watkinsville, and all are welcome to attend.

3. Every Tuesday the of Oconee County meets at 7 a.m. in the Watkinsville Community Center for a continental breakfast and presentation. Dr. Sherine Thomas is scheduled to speak about cancer awareness. Guests are welcome to attend at a cost of $5 per person.

4. There is a great need for blood, and you can do your part by donating today at an American Red Cross blood drive at the UGA Ramsey Student Center from noon until 5 p.m.

5. Teens are invited to participate in a unique event  from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Oconee County Library.  Kids ages 11-18 are welcome to join in a project to create a Japanese character to clip on a bag or other personal item.
