Oconee Today -- July 11

Fall registration for Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department programs opens today. See what else there is to know in and around Oconee.

1. High temperatures will be in the mid 90s today with a 40 percent chance of scattered thundershowers, according to the Weather Channel's forecast.

2. Registration for fall programs at the Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department begins today at 8 a.m.  According to an , registration may be completed online at www.ocprd.com or in person at Oconee Veterans Park or Herman C. Michael Park.

3. There's one week left to vote in advance of the July 19 runoff election to fill the Georgia 113th District House Seat.  takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Board of Elections Office.  Registered voters with proper identification may cast a ballot.

4. Assistant Superintendent for Financial Operations Randy Morrison will present information on the proposed millage rates for FY12 at the Oconee County Board of Education's work session this afternoon. The meeting begins at 5 p.m. Click here for the complete draft of the agenda.

5. If you missed it when it first cycled through theatres, there's a chance to catch "Fast Five" on the big screen at the University of Georgia's Tate Theatre.  Tickets are $2 each or free for UGA students with ID. Showtimes are 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
