Find out which two new films will be showing at local theaters.

Weather: Plenty of sunshine is in Friday's forecast.  The National Weather Service calls for highs in the mid to upper 50s.  Plan on some clouds overnight and lows in the mid 30s.

Top things to know:

  • The 2011 Annual Can-A-Thon, sponsored by Oconee County Schools, wraps up today.  Non-perishable items such as canned soups, vegetables, and oatmeal are being collected and will be donated to Area Churches Together Serving. 
  • Good Dirt Clay Studio and Gallery hosts a Holiday Open House from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.   There will be wheel-throwing demonstrations and several workshops.  The Holiday Open House .
  • is hosting the annual Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. .
  • Two new films are coming to area movie theaters: New Year's Eve, rated PG-13 and "The Sitter", rated R. Check out showtimes at  Carmike Cinema and Beechwood Stadium Cinemas 11.
