Christmas tree disposal, holiday celebrations from around the world, and basketball are a couple of the things to know about in and around Oconee today.

Weather: Sunshine is expected with a high temperature near 51 degrees. The National Weather Service predicts clear skies overnight and lows in the upper 20s.

Top things to know:

  • Wondering what to do with your Christmas tree? A group is collecting donations for Oconee County Relay for Life by picking up and disposing of Christmas trees. Schedule a pickup between 5-8 p.m. Suggested donation: $20. .
  • The hosts an event for teens to learn about including Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and more. The free event begins at 6 p.m.
  • High school basketball tourneys: North Oconee High School travels to Walnut Grove and Oconee County High School continues to play host to a Christmas Tournament.
  • The UGA women's basketball team takes on Furman at 7 p.m. in Stegeman Coliseum. Tickets are $5 or free for UGA students and staff.Β
