Weather: Temperatures continue to climb on Wednesday and highs will reach into the upper 60s, according to the National Weather Service. Plan on partly sunny skies during the day and partly cloudy skies overnight.

  • A swearing-in ceremony will be held for as he takes the reins from Watkinsville Mayor Joe Walter.  It will happen during the council meeting scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Watkinsville Community Center.  See the complete agenda, attached as a pdf.

  • Could a resolution to the possible water and sewer shutoff to a mobile home park be reached this afternoon between the county and landowner?  A of the Oconee County Board of Commissioners has been scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at the courthouse.  Because commissioners plan to discuss pending litigation, they will adjourn to executive session.  An announcement is expected to follow when they reconvene in regular session.
  • Anime and Manga fans are invited to a meeting of the at 6 p.m. at the Oconee County Library.
  • The Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department announces the closure of the north upper tennis courts at Herman C. Michael Park for maintenance. Also the Fitness Center and Gymnasium at Oconee Veterans Park will be closed through Dec. 20 for maintenance, according to the department's website
