Watch out for extreme heat. Oconee County is under a heat advisory until 8 p.m.

Weather: Oconee County is one of 13 northeast Georgia Counties under a heat advisory through 8 p.m. on Monday.  Heat index values could reach between 105-107, according to the National Weather Service.  Highs will be in the uppers 90s and there's a 30 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms.

Top Things to Know About:

  • A good workout and fun are to be had at the exercise and line dance classes offered this morning at .  Ballroom dance classes begin at 2 p.m. and each class is $5 per person. If you are interested in becoming a member, read more about how to apply.
  • The Oconee County Board of Education meets at 4:30 p.m. in the school district offices on School Street. To see a complete draft of the agenda, click here.
  • On the second Monday of each month, the Town of Bishop council meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall, located on the southeast corner of Highway 441 and Old Bishop Road.
