The 2011-2012 school year kicks off!

Weather: It'll be another hot one as students head back to the classroom. Highs are expected to be in the upper 90s with plenty of sunshine.  Overnight lows will drop into the upper 60s, according to the National Weather Service.

  • Summer vacation has come to an end and another school year begins for Oconee County schools and . The school year starts for students on Friday and classes begin on Monday.  students have been back in class since Aug. 5.
  • The reminds motorists to be mindful of school buses, car riders, and deputies directing traffic in school zones. 
  • Wondering what's for lunch?  Check Oconee Patch every school day to see what public school cafeterias have on the menu to help you plan dinner accordingly.
  • Registration begins today through Sept. 9 for the seventh annual “Vet School for a Day" at the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine, which will be held on Sept. 28.  For more information, .
