Oconee Residents Invited to Gather in Remembrance of Those Who've Died in Military Service

The Oconee Veterans Memorial Day Foundation is presenting a ceremony Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.

Vince Dooley, a former Marine, will be the honorary guest speaker at an event Memorial Day remembering those who have died in military service. 

Oconee residents are invited to attend the ceremony, which will held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27, at the Oconee Veterans Memorial. A Hot Thomas BBQ lunch will follow the ceremony and will be held at the senior center. 

The ceremony is free to attend, but if you would like to have lunch, reservations are required and the cost is $10, of which proceeds will be returned to the foundation. Guests are also asked to consider making a tax-deductible contribution to the Oconee Veterans Memorial. Residents can register online at www.regonline.com/memorialday2013 or call 706-769-3965.
