Make a Donation to Help the Hungry

The National Association of Letter Carriers is conducting its 21st annual nationwide Stamp Out Hunger food drive this Saturday, May 11.

Donating food to those in need has never been easier — bag some nonperishable items, walk to your mailbox this Saturday before your mail carrier comes by and leave it there.

The food will be picked up when your mail is delivered and will support the National Association of Letter Carriers' 21st annual nationwide Stamp Out Hunger food drive

Food collected during Saturday’s drive will be delivered to local community food banks and food pantries for distribution.

All nonperishable donations are welcome, but foods that are high in protein, such as canned meats and fish, rice, pasta, salmon, beans and peanut butter are most needed. Canned fruits and vegetables, whole grain, low sugar cereals, macaroni and cheese dinners and 100 percent fruit juice also top the list of most needed items.

According to the association, Stamp Out Hunger is the nation’s largest single-day food drive and has netted more than 1 billion pounds of food since its inception. Last year, more than 73 million pounds of food were collected nationally, with more than 200,000 pounds collected in metro Atlanta.
