Legal Employees' Quick Actions Save Woman's Life
Lawyers at the Oconee County law firm Wiggins, Norris & Coffey used CPR to help revive secretary Karen Hemphill, the Athens Banner-Herald reports.
You never know when the CPR training you took in high school will pay off.
Those skills came back for Oconee County lawyer Shannon Coffey on Aug. 17, when she and her colleagues worked frantically to save secretary Karen Hemphill.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports that Hemphill collapsed in the Jennings Mill Road office of . Hemphill, who had a heart arrhythmia, was not breathing and had no pulse when Coffey, paralegal Brian Cathey and lawyer Blaine Norris found her.

Norris and Coffey administered mouth-to-mouth breathing and chest compressions for nearly 15 minutes before paramedics arrived, the paper reports. Hemphill recovered and was back at work last week.
