Have the Winners of the Record Mega Millions Jackpot Claimed Their Prize?

It's been almost a week since the drawing of the Mega Millions winning jackpot and still none of the holders of the three winning tickets have officially come forward to claim the record payout.

According to all reports, an official winner has yet to come forward for any of the three winning tickets sold for last Friday's record Mega Millions jackpot.

The winning tickets were sold in Kansas, Illinois and Maryland. So far one woman, a native of Haiti, did claim to hold the winning ticket purchased at a Maryland store, but that caused some controversy and has not been verified by lottery officials. According to The New York Post, 37-year-old Mirlande Wilson said although she had played a group plan with her fellow workers at the McDonald's she manages, the winning ticket was one she played by herself. Her claim has been dogged by skepticism and even a bizarre press conference April 3, as reported in the Mail Herald. However, even the attorney handling the press conference for Wilson couldn't verify the existence of the winning ticket.

The three winners, once officially verified, will receive an equal portion of $656 million, the largest payout ever in a lottery. There were also 161 winners of $250,000 each, six of them from Georgia.Β  , according to Athens Patch.
