Fugitive Behind Bars Thanks to Citizen's Complaint

Twenty-five-year-old Jose Sotelo, wanted in Texas on a charge of aggravated assault, also faces charges in Oconee County.

A man wanted on a charge of aggravated assault in Texas in behind bars in Oconee County awaiting extradition.

s deputies arrested Jose Sotelo, 25, on July 27 after investigating a complaint from a citizen about possible drug activity, according to a news release.

When confronted in the yard of a Pine Ridge Court residence, Sotelo allegedly threw a chair at a deputy and tried to flee before he was taken into custody, authorities said.Β  Chief Deputy Lee Weems said Sotelo had likely been staying with family members in Oconee.

Sotelo faces misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and obstruction of a law enforcement officer in Oconee County.Β  An ID check revealed an active aggravated assault warrant in Sotelo's name in Texas, the news release stated.
