Freeze Warning for Oconee

New budding plants and trees should be protected from early morning freezing temperatures on Saturday, the Weather Service has said.

A freeze warning for Oconee and other northeast Georgia counties will go into effect from 4 a.m. until 8 a.m. on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

"Recently budded plants and trees that are susceptible to frost and freeze will likely be damaged or killed if left unprotected," the warning advises.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the low 30s.

"Those with agricultural interests are advised to harvest or protect tender vegetation," the warning states.
