First Meeting of the Junior American Citizens Watkinsville Scheduled for Aug. 27

Children ages kindergarten to age 18 are welcome to participate in this program.

The Junior American Citizens Watkinsville will host their first meeting on Monday, Aug. 27 at 4 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Oconee County Public Library and all children ages kindergarten to age 18 are welcome to attend.

The Junior American Citizens is DAR's second oldest youth-oriented committee and has been open to students since October 1901. Students across the country participate in this program that fosters the idea that the rights and responsibilities of citizenship can and should be taught from an early age.

Meetings typically last an hour and attendees will be learning about national and local history as well as planning future activities.
