Oconee Rotary Distributes Dictionaries to Local Students

Every third grader in Oconee County gets own dictionary

Each year, as part of its focus on literacy in the community, the Rotary Club of Oconee County provides dictionaries for every third grader in every public and private school in the county.   The books are purchased through the Dictionary Project, a non-profit based in Charleston, SC, whose sole mission is to distribute dictionaries to as many third graders throughout the U.S. as possible.  A bookplate is placed inside the front cover of each dictionary that tells where the gift came from, and provides a place for the students to record their names.
