Dish Network Corp paid $320 million for Blockbuster in April 2011.   In July, the company had hopes of keeping 1,500 stores open and retaining 15,000 employees.

However, last month Chief Executive Joe Clayton told Reuters announced unprofitable stores would close, but didn't specify how many locations would be closed.  Any remaining stores will serve, in part, as customer service centers for Dish, he said in the interview.
