Owner Strives to Bring Sense Of Community to The Granary

"They're getting the job done," longtime customer says.

Local business owner and baker James Ware strives to bring a sense of community to The Granary Bakery and Market.

Ware and his family purchased the business last June when the bakery's founders needed to let it go to pursue other opportunities.

"We felt that it was an integral part of the community and that it should remain a part of the community," Ware said.

The bakery produces fresh goods daily, including its best seller: the raspberry chocolate chip scone.

"We sell about eight dozen raspberry scones a day," Ware said.

Ware feels that the bakery complements Jittery Joe's Coffee Shop, which is located opposite The Granary on Greensboro Highway.

"We make great pastries and they make great coffee," he said. "We have customers come over with their coffee and we have people take pastries over there, so I think it's great."
