Another Hollywood Movie is Shooting in Nearby Monroe

Filming of "Prisoners" will continue Friday at Country Crossing gas station at Troy Smith Road and Highway 78.

If you're heading down Highway 78 towards Atlanta, be extra cautious as you pass through Monroe. Film crews from Hollywood are in town shooting for an upcoming Warner Bros movie. Walton County Sheriff's deputies are on hand directing traffic, but motorists are warned to exercise caution as they approach.

Country Crossing gas station and a stretch of Highway 78 just west of Monroe has been converted to movie set at the moment and is likely to be that way for at least Friday, according to members of the film crew.  The Warner Bros movie "Prisoners," scheduled to be released in September 2013, is currently being filmed in Georgia and this week the set moved to Monroe. Last month, and up until recently, much of the movie has been filmed in a Conyers neighborhood, according to OnLocationVacations.

Lynne Van Buul, owner of Bella Derma in Loganville, got a call from Warner Bros in Hollywood last month asking for permission to film under her billboard on Highway 78. The set has now been established on location at Country Crossings.

"Prisoners" stars Golden Globe Award nominee Hugh Jackman, Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhall and two-time Golden Globe Award nominee Maria Bellow. According to a story in The Examiner, "Prisoners" tells the story of carpenter, Keller Dover (Jackman), whose 6-year-old daughter and friend are kidnapped. Gyllenhall plays a detective and Bellow place Grace Dover, the wife of Jackman's character.

This is not the first time that Monroe has been the location for Hollywood movies, most recently being American Pie's fourth movie "American Reunion," and many of the Vampire movie series.
