Meet The Owner of an Art and Antiques Gallery

Dolores Schofill has quite an eye. She has a gallery full of beautiful treasures.

Dolores Schofill has created a gorgeous gallery featuring locally created art and furnishings, as well as some fantastic and unique antiques.  Her attention to detail and exquisite style makes Circa Antiques & Art one of Watkinsville's finest shops.   She has lovingly restored her building on Main Street, showcasing its architecture and vintage brick walls.  Her shop is a feast for the senses!

Patch: When did you start your business?

Dolores: I started my business in 2004 with "space" in Art Masters here in Watkinsville. I moved across the street and leased a building for 2 years, then I purchased a building two doors down, renovated it, and that's where I am now.  My business has evolved with each new location.

Patch: Why this particular business?

Dolores:  Antiques and Art speak to my soul. I love being surrounded by wonderful canvases with colors and textures, and I love the history and craftsmanship of fine antiques.

Patch: What is your favorite thing about your business?

Dolores: I've acquired mentors.  I have the privilege of hanging with some really knowledgeable guys and I have learned a lot from them.  I also like meeting people.  Every person that walks through my door adds something to my life.

Patch: What is the most challenging thing about running Circa Antiques & Art?

Dolores: Setting limits and staying relevant.  I try to make sure that I only invest time, money, and floorspace in items of merit.

Patch: What are your long-term goals?

Dolores:   I want to continue to improve in all areas of my business.  I want to offer my customers the best quality at the most affordable price.

Patch: What advice would you give to someone wanting to start a new business in Oconee County?

Dolores:  My father was a paratrooper in the Korean War.  He used to say "Just Jump." You may have a great landing or you may get bruised up some, but you have to get your feet on the ground before you can run.   There is so much information available on the academics of starting a business, but sometimes what a person needs to hear is, "Just Jump."

Circa Antiques & Art is located at 17 N. Main Street in Watkinsville. The phone number is 706-769-2700.

Imagine that! A mockery of a representative calling an issue a mockery! How much of his outrageousRead More salary and benefit package is he willing to give up? And what he calls fact is seriously distorted information. Good leaders don't run and hide from an issue and then blame others for their shortcomings... I realize good leaders are hard to find.... but, why do we continue to tolerate mediocrity? A vacant seat would be just as effective as this congressman... actually, as I think about it, probably more effective.
