Freeman's work will be on display through July 31 with an opening reception scheduled for June 12.

, located just above Chops and Hops on South Main Street in Watkinsville, will host Lisa Freeman's Through the Red Door exhibit.

Freeman was born and raised in the Midwest but now works and lives in the Athens area. Paintings from Freeman's Through the Red Door collection offer viewers colorful narratives, self-portraits and imaginary worlds of peculiar everyday objects.

"At first glance my paintings in this series are children but they have experienced far beyond their physical years," Freeman explains in a press release. Through layers and layers of paint Freeman searches for what is just beyond the red door.
