Chef Richard Miley Puts the Finishing Touches on His Catch 22 Gastropub

The new pub will be ready for the upcoming UGA home football game.

The food is going to be good, the drinks are going to be great, the atmosphere is going to be relaxed, and everyone is going to love the Catch 22 Gastropub.

So says Richard Miley, the gastropub's chef and one of the partners behind the new establishment. Located on Epps Bridge Parkway, in front of Kohl's, the restaurant will serve interesting food, 24 different beers and 8 different wines.

Miley wants to feature 12 breweries from Georgia and then vary the other dozen. The list includes Terrapin, Wild Heaven, Sweetwater, Wrecking Bar, Stone, Founder's and Bell's.

"I think I understand food and drink, and I think people want something that's fun," says Miley, who trained at Cordon Bleu in Atlanta. He has worked in Arizona and Atlanta as well as at Chops and Hops in Watkinsville. "There's nothing like this in Oconee."

The menu of Catch 22 includes seafood, grilled meats, sandwiches and appetizers. Miley hopes to change the menu every month to reflect what's in season after the restaurant has been operating for a while.

Catch 22 will give new meaning to the term fresh: Miley says there isn't a freezer or a microwave on the premises.

The Catch 22 Gastropub will be open for UGA's first home football game. The hours are 11am to 9pm Monday-Wednesday, 11am to 10:30pm Thursday-Saturday and 11am to 3pm on Sunday. Miley is developing a brunch menu for the weekend, he said.

"I'm really happy with how it's turned out," he said. "My vision has been realized. It's a beautiful restaurant."
