Each week we'll tell you about a nearby restaurant or food business that serves up delicious food and focuses on eating local.
professes that it makes barbecue “the way it’s s’posed to be.” Take one bite and you will agree that the folks at Jot ‘Em Down have mastered the art of barbecue.
The pulled pork is hickory smoked with a good texture that is prime for a douse of the sauce of your choice. Homemade vinegar-based sauces reign supreme and have an elixir-like quality, but those who like mustard- and ketchup-based sauces can also be happy at Jot ‘Em Down. The restaurant’s everyday menu features a regular or large pulled pork sandwich, a ribwich and regular or large BBQ sandwich plates served with two sides and pickles on a bun. Also on the menu: rib and broiled trout plates served with two sides, white bread and pickles; a catfish plate served with two sides and hushpuppies; a dozen steamed oysters; fish-n-chips; a fish sandwich basket, hamburgers, corn dogs and other delicious items.
Check for daily specials featuring chicken plates, smoked sausage plates and more. Or take home pulled pork by the pound or a slab of ribs. Children have many options on the Piglet menu. Side items include coleslaw and baked beans (you have to have one or both with barbecue), potato salad, fries, a hearty Brunswick stew, and cabbage casserole, the restaurant’s signature vegetable dish. Finish off your meal with pecan pie, cheesecake or banana pudding made “the way it’s s’posed to be.”
