All barbecue joints are not created equal. These days, many restaurants use the term “barbecue” loosely and disappoint many a customer. At they know that “barbecue” is a noun and not a verb and dish up some of the best ’que around.
The pulled pork is served with your choice of sweet tomato or vinegar based sauce, each available in a mild, hot or extra hot range. Sunbeam white bread, a Southern delicacy, is the house sandwich bread and also adorns the platters. The coleslaw, made with sweet pickles, sets off the barbecue.
At Hot Thomas’ they have mastered the art of Brunswick stew and know how to cook up some good ribs. For children or adults who cannot be persuaded to try barbecue, hot dogs and hamburgers are also on the menu, as well as homemade desserts.

Located in an old roadside store a few miles outside of Watkinsville on Highway 15, Hot Thomas’ atmosphere is part of the experience, but the food is the real reason that people take the drive.
