Summer Film Series at Georgia Museum of Art

The Georgia Museum of Art will host a summer film series entitled "Rise of the Southern Biscuit" on Thursday, June 7 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Athens.

The documentary follows the journey of the biscuit in the South from flour and water to rising buttered biscuits. The film is 30 minutes in length.

Prior to the showing of the film the museum is organizing a biscuit making contest for local restaurants. Audience members will be given a chance to sample biscuits and vote on their favorites. Charles Doyle, associate professor of UGA English department will serve as official judge.

Participating restaurants include: Strickland's, Peaches, Five Star Day Cafe, Mama's Boy and Heirloom Cafe.
