OYSP Celebration of National Dance Day

The Oconee Youth School of Performance will hold an open dance party in celebration of National Dance Day. “We are big fans of So You Think You Can Dance,” says Terra Hannon, who co-directs the studio with her husband Shane, “so we wanted to participate in this national initiative to promote dance as a fun and healthy activity for all ages.”

The community is invited to come to OYSP to learn dance routines choreographed specifically for National Dance Day.“We will have some of our staff teach two routines: one for all skill levels choreographed by Mary Murphy, one of the SYTYCD judges,” says Terra. “The other piece is a hip hop number choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo, two of the show’s star choreographers.”

For those who want to practice ahead of time, the two routines can be found online at Dance4YourLife.org.

“We will take videos and photos of the performances at the studio and send them in to SYTYCD and also post them on our OYSP web site and Facebook page.”

We invite everyone, all ages, to come out and join us to show that there are lots of dance fans in our local community. We especially encourage parents who bring kids to stay and participate.”
