Oconee Youth Playhouse presents Snoopy the Musical

Oconee Youth Playhouse will present “Snoopy the Musical” March 30-April 1 at the Oconee County Civic Center.

Joseph Hitchcock, who majored in vocal performance at the University of Georgia, has the title role.  He has been in numerous OYP shows since 2004 when he was cast as Tony in OYP’s production of “West Side Story.”  He was seen most recently as Emmett in “Legally Blonde.”

Other members of the Peanuts gang include TJ Sterrenberg, a senior at Athens Academy as Charlie Brown; Simon Beckham, an 8th grader at Malcom Bridge Middle School as Linus; Rachel Wolfe, a sophomore at Oconee County High School as Peppermint Patty, and Megan Hodgson, an 8th grader at Athens Academy as Lucy.

Others include Bailey Chastain, an 8th grader at Malcom Bridge Middle School as Marcie; Ivy Hitchcock, a home-schooled 8th grader as Sally; Shannon Hodgson, a 10th grader at Athens Academy as Woodstock; Rachel Bolden, an 8th grader at Malcom Bridge Middle School as the Red-Haired Girl; Blake McNeal, an 8th grader at Oconee County Middle School as Schroeder, and Jeremiah Smith, a 5th grader at Westminster Christian Academy as Pigpen.

Other cast members appear as classmates and in various ensemble roles.

“Snoopy is a really fun show for all ages and has some great musical numbers,” says Shane Hannon, who is co-directing the production with his wife Terra and Kelly Ozust. “This is the sequel to ‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,’ which we presented in 2007, and I think audiences will love it just as much.”

Shows are at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.  Tickets, priced at $12-16, can be purchased from 4-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday at Oconee Youth School of Performance, 1050 Jamestown Blvd.  They also will be on sale in the lobby of the Oconee County Civic Center an hour before each show.
