Why Go: To run the 5K in support of Canine Companions for Independence or enjoy the run/walk with your dog, canine-friendly activities and pet-related vendors and entertainment.

Where/When: State Botanical Garden of Georgia on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: To learn about the creepy crawly world of inspects by exploring discovery stations and the insect café, watching puppet shows and celebrating the annual butterfly release on the lawn of the International Garden.

Pricing: $5 per person; $20 maximum per family; free for children under 2

Where/When: on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: To enjoy Greek food, music and dancing, iconography and chanting, children’s activities and crafts and more.

Pricing: $3 general admission; $1 seniors and students; free for children 8 and under

Where/When: Sandy Creek Park in Athens on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: To enjoy this popular outdoor festival dedicated to folk music and art and listen to an outstanding lineup including Cosmic Charlie, Beverly Smith and Alice Gerrard and the Georgia Mudcats.

Pricing: $10 adults; $5 students; free children under 12; $2 per person park admission fee for ages 3 to 64

Where/When: Lyndon House Arts Center in Athens on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5p.m.

Why Go: To get a close look at over 100 cars chosen for their condition, rarity or other contribution to automotive history, and be entertained by a fashion show, music and a children’s art project.
