Why Go: To see which dog is the ugliest, the cutest, the slowest, the fastest, the best dressed, the most well-behaved and more, along with their owners.

4. 20th ANNUAL RUN/WALK FOR HOME 5K
Where/When: The Classic Center in Athens on Saturday at 8 a.m.
Why Go: To walk or run along a course that includes the North Oconee Greenway and support the Athens Area Habitat for Humanity and the Athens Area Homeless Shelter.
Pricing: $25 per person after 4/15; $45 family rate (limit 4 and does not include T-shirts).
5. “EARLFEST”: A CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE OF EARL MURPHY
Where/When: The Melting Point in Athens on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Why Go: To celebrate the life and music of Earl Murphy, one of the last of the true old-time fiddle players, at this all-ages show featuring Earl’s family, friends and admirers.
