Why Go: To attend a bluegrass and country jam session featuring the sounds of String-Theory and support the Boybutante AIDS Foundation.

Where/When: Behind the in Wakinsville on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: To buy locally grown plants and vegetables, locally produced meat and dairy products and locally baked goods and more while chatting about local issues with your neighbors and friends.

Pricing: Free admission

Where/When: Big Dogs on the River in Athens on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: To go kayaking on the Middle Oconee, celebrate with a cookout and live music and support the good work of the Oconee River Project of Altamaha Riverkeeper.

Pricing: $20 for paddlers; $8 for non-paddlers

Where/When: on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.

Why Go: To pitch, hit and run in a competition with boys and girls ages 7 to 14 and have the opportunity to progress to sectional, regional and national competitions.

Where/When: The Georgia Center on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Why Go: To attend this highly anticipated fundraiser for the Jeannette Rankin Foundation, which carries on the spirit of Rankin, the first woman elected to Congress and Oconee County resident, by providing scholarships for women nationwide.
