Why Go: To enjoy this popular community event featuring music, food, shopping and “Back to School” arts and crafts for children.

Where/When: Georgia Theatre in Athens on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.

Why Go: To celebrate the re-opening of the “NEW” Georgia Theatre during its first weekend of being back in business with performances by Blackberry Smoke on Friday and RJD2 on Saturday.

Pricing: Blackberry Smoke: (Sold out); RJD2: $18.50

Where/When: Morehouse College in Atlanta on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: To be a part of history at the first-stop on this tour which will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and will culminate at the dedication of his memorial in Washington, D.C. on August 28.

Pricing: Free admission; $3 parking fee in Morehouse deck

Where/When: on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Why Go: To compete on the racecourse and for the groovy prizes given for the best retro costumes, while benefiting projects of the Oconee Civitan Club.

Where/When: State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: To hear this talented choir perform marches, popular tunes and classical pieces in the beautiful air-conditioned comfort of the Conservatory at the Gardens.
