Here is our pick of activities going on in or around Oconee County this weekend.

Where/When: Pittard Park in Winterville on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Why Go: To attend one of the area’s favorite festivals featuring juried arts and crafts, barbecue and other food vendors, street dancing, entertainment in the park, a 5K run, parade, dunking in the park, a scenic bike ride, the Miss, Junior Miss and the Little Miss Marigold Scholarship pageant and much more.

Why Go: To enjoy the summer reading program’s kickoff events, including a magician’s show, pony rides, petting zoo, moonwalk, craft projects and more.

Where/When: Classic Center in downtown Athens on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: To learn more about products and services for children of all ages, while they explore the many activities, including miniature golf, a tumbling zone, train rides, a magic show, do-it-yourself craft projects and more.

Pricing: $5 admission; Free for children under 2

Where/When: Shields-Ethridge Farm in Jefferson on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: To have an opportunity to see and experience plowing, blacksmithing, soap-making, quilting, basket-making, a working grist mill, wagon rides and more at this outdoor agricultural museum.

Pricing: $5 admission; free for children 12 and under
