10 things I bet you did not know about your neighbor, Tiffany Hudak.

I met Tiffany about seven years ago when we were both doing volunteer work for the Athens-Oconee Junior Woman's Club. Since then, our kids have taken up most of our time, but we have that instant re-connection ease when we get to chat...

1) In 2008, Tiffany served as Mrs. Georgia.

2) In order to put this achievement to good use, Tiffany organized the Athens Free to Breathe 5K Run, an annual event that takes place at Sandy Creek Park to raise money and increase awareness for victims of lung cancer. This year's event will be the fourth year and is planned for November 12. Registration and more information is available at www.freetobreathe.org.

3) Tiffany lost her mother to lung cancer only 3 weeks after diagnosis when she was 32-years-old and 6 months pregnant with her only child. This
loss caused Tiffany to become a philanthropist at heart.

4) Tiffany has been married to her husband Don for 12 years.
Together they have Grant, who was diagnosed with type I Diabetes at the age of 4, but handles it like a champ!

5) Tiffany attacks the health challenges that face Grant personally at
home head on as in her professional work.Β  She is a graduate of North Georgia College and State University and has been a Registered Nurse for 17 years.

6) She divides her time between The Moore Center for Plastic Surgery where she is a skincare nurse, and St. Mary's Hospital in their Short Stay Department.

7) Tiffany and her husband moved from Gwinnett County to Bishop in 2004, where they live in the home they built in Riverwalk on the Apalachee.

8) Tiffany seeks the camaraderie of her peer group through volunteerism
with the Athens-Oconee Junior Woman's Club where she serves as secretary

9) Tiffany's passion is educating others regarding lung cancer awareness and eradicating the stigma that so often accompanies this diagnosis.

10) In 2001, Tiffany and her husband traveled to Africa with her mother and stepfather where they spent 4 weeks on safari and truly had the trip of a lifetime!
