Oconee Today -- Oct. 16

A Rotary Club meeting, ribbon cutting, and high school cross country meet are a few of the things to know about in and around Oconee today.

Weather: Partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 70s are in today's Weather Channel forecast. Lows overnight will drop into the mid 50s.

Top things to know:

  • Every Tuesday the Rotary Club of Oconee County meets at 7 a.m. in the Watkinsville Community Center for a continental breakfast and presentation. Today's guest speaker is 2012 Olympian Reese Hoffa. Guests are welcome to attend at a cost of $5 per person.
  • Join the ambassadors of the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce for a 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony at Performance Pediatrics & Sports Medicine.  The business is located at 1181 Langford Drive Building 200-101.
  • All are invited to play duplicate bridge at the Watkinsville Community Center every Tuesday at 1 p.m.  Cost is $4.  The group also meets on Fridays.
  • An Athens area cross country meet takes place at Athens Academy at 5 p.m. Teams from NOHS and OCHS are among those competing.
