Here's what's happening in and around Oconee today.

Weather: Partly sunny skies and highs in the low 60s are in today's National Weather Service forecast. The next chance of rain comes overnight, mostly likley after 3 a.m.

Top things to know:

  • The deadline to enter Patch’s Best Halloween Costume in America Contest has been entended through 11:59 p.m. To enter, upload a photo of yourself or your child in a Halloween costume.  You could win $5,000. 
  • Tonight and tomorrow night, a percentage of sales at Zaxby's in Watkinsville will be donated to Oconee County Elementary School and Oconee County Primary School.
  • The Oconee County School Board will hear a presentation about the county's Food for Kids Program at its work session starting at 5 p.m. See the complete draft of the meeting's agenda.
  • As part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration of African Studies at UGA, the African Student Union hosts "A Taste of Africa" at 6 p.m. in the Tate Student Center.  Learn more.
  • Poet Jacqueline Osherow will be at Cine at 7 p.m., part of the Spotlight on the Arts Festival.
