Top things to know:

  • Today is the 61st annual National Day of Prayer.  Observances will be held in and counties this morning.
  • Veterans currently seeking work are invited to a at VFW Post #2872 on Sunset Drive in Athens from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants should be dressed in business attire and be prepared to speak with employers on the spot.  Don't forget to bring plenty of resumes!
  • A two-day tour for Economic Development Officials and Prospective Investors to tour Oconee and Clarke counties launches with a welcome from Athens Mayor Nancy Denson and Oconee Board of Commissioners Chairman Melvin Davis.  The begins at 10 a.m. at Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Athens. 
  • The Watkinsville Garden Club meets on the first Thursday of the month at 10:15 a.m. in the Union Christian Church Fellowship Hall.  For more information, visit watkinsvillegardenclub.org.
  • 's varsity boys' soccer team hosts Coosa in round 1 of the AA state playoffs. The game begins at 6:30 and tickets are $7.
  • The Band spring concert takes place at the Civic Center starting at 7 p.m.
