Oconee Today -- June 22

The Oconee County Library launches a 48-hour scavenger hunt for families this afternoon.

Weather: Sunny skies are in the forecast for Friday with highs in the mid 90s.  The National Weather Service calls for a 20 percent of scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

Observances:

Today is National Chocolate Eclair Day. An eclair is an oblong pastry made with a light dough filled with a cream and topped with icing.

Check out a recipe for chocolate eclairs from TasteofHome.com. Contributor Janice Davis of Murfreesboro, Tenn., says, "I recently won the grand prize with this recipe at a 'Chocolate Lovers Cook-Off' contest in our town. This is one of my favorite desserts."

  • The State Botanical Garden of Georgia offers a Digital Plant Photography Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a fee of $50 or $45 for members. 
  • Swing by the Oconee County Library between 3-6 p.m. to pick up a clue sheet and enter the 48-hour scavenger hunt. Return the sheet at 3 p.m. on Sunday for a chance to win! .
