Weather: More scattered thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon.  Highs will approach 90 degrees with overnight lows dropping into the upper 60s.

Observances: Happy National Peanut Butter Cookie Day! According topunchbowl.com, peanut butter cookies did not become an American favorite until the early 1900s. In 1916, George Washington Carver started promoting the peanut and its many uses and even included a trio of cookie recipes in his research bulletin "How to Grow the Peanut and 105 Ways of Preparing it for Human Consumption."

Check out a couple peanut butter cookie recipes from FoodNetwork.com. Those iconic, criss-cross fork marks? Those came about in 1932 when Schenectady Gazette published a recipe that called for adding the fork marks.

  • Every Tuesday the of Oconee County meets at 7 a.m. in the Watkinsville Community Center for a continental breakfast and presentation. Today's guest speaker is , the new superintendent of Oconee County Schools.  Guests are welcome to attend at a cost of $5 per person.
