Cow Appreciation Day falls on Friday the 13th. See what's going on in and around Oconee today.

Weather: The work week comes to a close with another round of thunderstorms.  The Weather Channel predicts highs in the mid to upper 80s and a 60 percent chance of rain.

Top things to know:

  • Today is the final Friday the 13th in 2012. 
  • takes place at 9 a.m. at .  Participants are asked to pay $5 per month, and bring a small toy donation to each class. 
  • Break out that cow costume, it could be your meal ticket today! is hosting , meaning customers decked out from head to toe in bovine glory will receive a free meal.   Patrons that wearing cow-like accessories will get a free entree. .
  • Are you ready for ? It's coming up on Saturday night at the Oconee County Civic Center from 7-9 p.m.  It's a benefit for the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Treatment. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
