A wind advisory goes into effect at 10 a.m. through midnight.

Weather: Mainly cloudy skies are in the forecast with a chance of rain after 1 p.m. High temperatures will be in the lows 60s. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the area in effect beginning at 10 a.m. through midnight. Plan on west winds 15-25 mph and gusts of up to 35 mph.

  • There are a number of volunteer opportunities available for this year's MLK Day of Service. Visit the Hands on Northeast Georgia  handsonnega.org/athensmlk. A couple of projects are taking place in Oconee County.
  • The annual meeting and banquest has been scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 26 at the . Members should make reservations and prepay by Jan. 20. Tickets are $50 each of $380 for a table of 8.

  • Parents of eighth-graders who attend are invited to the Civic Center from 6:30-8p.m. to learn about registration for .
  • The Lady Bulldogs host Florida in a 7 p.m. game.  Tickets are $5 or free for UGA staff and students. Go Dawgs!
